The global supply chain crisis isn’t just limited to the problems at shipping ports, but also due to the shortage of truck drivers to transport those containers and shipments.
Could the answer be in autonomous trucks?
While this isn’t new, the current supply chain crisis could accelerate the presence and adoption of autonomous trucking.
In recent weeks, plenty of announcements have been made regarding autonomous trucking startups such as:
- TusSimple: testing their autonomous trucks without a human safety driver.
- Aurora: Google founded startup just went public via a SPAC deal.
- Gatik: announced their fleet of fully autonomous trucks (that is with no safety driver) where their fleet will begin shuttling orders from a Walmart facility to market in Arkansas.
