Huge Step Back for EV Supply Chain
Canada has been wooing EV battery makers to Canada recently and persuaded Northvolt, a Swedish EV battery maker to set up shop with the lure of investment money thrown at them.
Unfortunately, ​Northvolt filed for bankruptcy​ in the US this past week.
As countries scramble to try to rely less on Chinese suppliers, especially in the EV industry, this is a huge blow to that strategy.
It will continue to operate and focus on restructuring after filing the Chapter 11 in the US.
Potato Cartel Accused of Price Fixing
A potato cartel (apparently that’s a real thing), consisting of McCain Foods, Cavendish Farms and two other food giants in Canada are being ​accused of price fixing and colluding​ to raise prices of frozen potato products sold to the US.
This potato cartel accounts for 98%(!!!) of this sector.
